Seminarians in the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene spend one year in spiritual formation prior to formal academic studies at St. Joseph Major Seminary. The St. Anthony of Padua Spiritual Year Seminary offers these young men an opportunity to prayerfully discern their vocation and to strengthen their relationship with God so that they will be prepared to served as holy priests.
The spiritual year seminary is fully subsidized by the Missions Office, USA and operates on an annual budget of about $17,000 USD. This covers all food, materials, housing, facilities, priestly formators and other staff salaries.
