The Diocese of Ikot Ekpene is largely a rural diocese serving more remote villages where poverty is prevalent. Though poverty has not affected the joy of the people in these parishes, it does affect their ability to provide for their church building, priest and local catechist. As a result, the Missions Office USA provides necessary funds for these rural parishes.
