On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the Abak Deanery welcomed our Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Camillus R. Umoh, for the 2026 Cathedraticum. It was a joyous and spiritually significant moment as the Dean, Very Rev. John Uko, joined with priests, religious, and the entire people of God to receive the Bishop in a spirit of faith and unity.
A Message on the Grace of Giving
The celebration centered on the Holy Mass, where Bishop Umoh offered a moving homily focused on the spiritual rewards of generosity. Drawing from the Gospel and the Old Testament account of the prophet Elisha and the woman of Shunem, the Bishop reminded the faithful that God deeply blesses those who share what they have, regardless of how little it may seem or how difficult the times may be.
He encouraged the community to remain steadfast in their acts of kindness, noting that true generosity is always met with a great reward from the Lord. This message of hope resonates deeply as the Church continues to be a source of strength and service for all.
Ambassadors of the Church: Formation and Sacraments
A highlight of the visit was the administration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. As the Bishop anointed the candidates, he charged them to be good ambassadors of the Church, living out their faith with courage and conviction.
