Over the past year, Our Lady of Fatima was able to make many new improvements thanks to the generosity of you, their sponsors. Here is a summary of money received and spent:

2022–2023 Opening of the School Year!

September 19, 2022 began the new school year at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School! New this year is an additional grade level: Primary Six. They hope to be able to add new grade levels the next two years and to be able to build the rest of their new school building. Below you will find pictures of the new classroom, new desks, whiteboard, and other new additions.

The 2022–2023 school year began with Fr. Gerald Akata, the Diocesan Director of Finances, making a special visit. Enjoy the pictures. We hope to have another update soon.

July, 2022: End of School Year Celebration

The 2021-2022 school year at Our Lady of Fatima is now completed and the students are taking a month of well-deserved vacation before beginning a new school year. Below are some videos and pictures from their end of the year celebration. Please notice that the platform is the German flooring that was laid for their future school building. The future school building will be constructed as finances permit. This flooring was made possible by your donations. Thank you and we look forward to the next year!

June 11, 2022: Update on Computer Lab and more!

Dear Sponsors,

Your donations have been making a great difference at Our Lady of Fatima School. First, click here a summary report of the donations and how they have been used this past year.

Below are pictures of the three most recent updates:

New Computer Lab:

Six new computers were recently added with new desks. The lab was introduced to the parents and students with much excitement:

New Guard House

To help protect the school and the new equipment, a new guard house is being built so that local residents can keep watch over their school during the day and night.

New Classroom Foundation and Floor:

The school hopes to expand, adding new classrooms so as to provide a local option for secondary school and to improve the current primary school classrooms. This year the foundation and German flooring was added. Next year, if more funds are available, walls will be added for the first floor. Eventually this will be a two story school building.

Thank you again for your generosity this past year! Your donations have made a huge difference.

January 31, 2022: New Year Inauguration Mass and Inspection of Facility Improvements

On January 31, 2022, Bishop Umoh, Fr. Donald Udoh, other priests, parents, faculty and students had a celebration to bless the new improvements made to “Our Lady of Fatima School” thanks to the generosity of you the sponsors. Over $5,500 was donated in November and December 2021 and that money has already made a huge difference. Here are a few of the things accomplished with your donations:

  • Repairs and new playground equipment.
  • New paint job for school interior and exterior.
  • Preparation for new computers (which is temporarily on hold due to a damaging storm. The roof needed to be fixed first).
  • Purchase of a new electric generator.
  • First aid kit for kids and improvement to infirmary.
  • Construction of new bathroom for pupils.
  • Purchase of new text books.
  • New activity books and writing materials.
  • New T.V. for preschool.

As mentioned above, there was a severe January storm that damaged the roof of the school so some of the donations are being used to fix the roof. Below you can view pictures of the damage done to the roof that is currently under repair.

Also, in the pictures below you will see some of the improvements made to the school as outlined above. Thank you again for your generous support! It is making a difference in the lives of these children!
