Listen to Childhood Anthem:
On March 17, 2026, pupils from Our Lady of Fatima School, Okon participated in a meaningful and inspiring recording session at Pax Media Studio in the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. The children recorded the official anthem of the National Holy Childhood Association of Nigeria, a song that reflects the missionary identity of young Catholics and their call to share the love of Christ with the world.
The recording featured pupils from Primary 4, 5, and 6, who were carefully prepared and directed by a music teacher engaged for this purpose. One by one and together, the children stepped forward to the microphone, wearing studio headphones and giving their full attention to the task. Their focus and enthusiasm revealed not only growing musical ability but also a deep sense of purpose.
The anthem itself proclaims a beautiful missionary message, reminding children that they are “friends of Jesus” called to share His love “in the name of the Lord” throughout the world. Through this recording, the students were not only learning music, but also being formed in their identity as young missionaries within the Church.
This initiative serves several important purposes. It prepares the school for an upcoming competition scheduled for May/June, while also promoting awareness of the Holy Childhood Association and its vital role in the Church’s missionary work. Additionally, it helps identify and nurture the musical talents of the pupils, encouraging them to develop their gifts in service to God.
The session was made possible through Pax Media, a diocesan communications apostolate dedicated to evangelization through modern media. Their studio provided the technical support and environment needed to give the children a true recording experience.
Plans are already underway to expand this project. Future steps include producing a video recording of the children performing the anthem, providing costumes to enhance their presentation, and working with an artist to further develop their performance. These efforts aim to form the whole child—cultivating confidence, discipline, creativity, and faith.
This joyful initiative reflects the vibrant mission of Our Lady of Fatima School, Okon, where education goes beyond the classroom to form young hearts for Christ. In raising their voices together, these children are learning to proclaim the Gospel not only in song, but in the witness of their lives.
